  Brad Markel - Cinematographer, Camera Operator, Photographer

Brad Markel is an American Cinematographer, Camera Operator, Photographer.

 

He is a member of Int'l Cinematographers Guild, Local 600 as a Camera Operator. 

Los Angeles is his production city.

Brad does Camera Operator work on feature films, including one starring Henry Winkler and Jeff Daniels, and on episodic television series, such as SEAL TEAM. This includes shooting various Digital Cinema cameras as well as Panavision and Arri film cameras. He has also done assistant lighting work on feature films. Brad was the Cinematographer on the National Geographic Television film, 'Red Wolves at the Crossroads', and he was a Cinematographer and Camera Operator on the feature length documentary film, 'American Dropout'.

He shoots on short form documentary films as well and was a DP/cameraman for the

CBS Evening News and NBC Nightly News, and he does contributing camera work on CBS Sunday Morning. His footage has been broadcast on PBS as well.

Brad has a natural handheld shooting style, understanding and visually responding to the situation as it unfolds as he is accomplished with shooting drama, news and sensitive documentaries.

 

An award winning cinematographer and photographer, Brad has spent twenty five years shooting assignments around the globe. He has flown aboard Air Force One with several Presidents, and covered White House assignments and assignments all over the world for magazines such as TIME, Fortune, Newsweek, LIFE, and People. His photographs have been published on the cover, as well as inside those magazines, and in nearly every major international magazine including National Geographic Traveler, Esquire, Paris Match, Stern, National Wildlife, Smithsonian, the New York Times Sunday Magazine, and countless others.

 

Brad has shot stills on studio produced feature film sets for media and magazines including movies starring Meryl Streep, Clint Eastwood, John Malkovich, and Gary Cole, to name a few.  He is very unobtrusive and works always with the utmost stealth and consideration on set.  That comes from years of being a photojournalist.
